Old Man a'Singing

As we found our seats at the far back of the right balcony the concert were just five minutes from starting. We got there just in time.

Expectations were high for another blast of a concert by Bob Dylan & Band as which were subjected to at Spektrum in Oslo, Norway almost two years ago. We were not let down. Alternative renditions of several hits (The Times Are A'Changin' and Blowin' In The Wind for instance) might not have been popular with the entire audience but I was quite satisfied despite those 'detours'. Wouldn't it also be boring for both Bob Dylan and his audience to hear the exact same rendition of a song every time? Performing a song differently requires skill, guts to do it and faith in your audience. If you want to hear Blowin' In The Wind as it is on the studio album go listen to the studio album. A live performance should be at least a little bit different.

This is the third time I have seen his Bobness. The first time was at the Roskilde Festival in 1997 on Orange stage. I had never listened to Dylan before that and knew only a few songs. However, they completely blew me away.

The concert lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes and they played 20 songs. My personal highlight was Masters Of War which I believe was a reference to the current conflict in the Middle East. It was a good mix of old and new songs.
