Pre Roskilde Festival
Vacation time. Tudde arrived yesterday morning. It was nice to see her again. Yesterday we went to the zoo in Copenhagen. As always very interesting. I have been there four or five times the past year. I truly hope the well managed zoos have an impact on the awareness of how diverse a wildlife we have and that we need to take care of it. I’m always worried that the animals at zoos are bored. It seems as if they are quite comfortable at the zoo in Copenhagen. For example a new giraf enclosure has been built. It is quite big compared to the old and it is situated next to other African wildlife such as the rhinocerus. I hope they some day move the elephants to the same area.
I suppose the alternative to having a zoo would be to look at a certain Steve on the Discovery Channel or pick up a book on animals. However, these options don’t generate the same impact as seeing a towering giraf right in front of you.

CD Cabinets
Ragnarok. Two days ago we mounted our two new CD cabinets on the wall and they both seemed to sit there just fine. However, one of the cabinets had smaller henges so we had to use smaller screws. This prooved fatal. Yesterday I filled the cabinets with our CDs. The top cabinet with around 200 CDs must have weighed around 50-70 kilos. Later on in the evening while I was tending to business elsewhere in the apartment I heard what sounded like the livingroom collapsing. A screw holding the top cabinet had broken and a chain reaction was in full progress. The top cabinet fell onto the bottom cabinet which then also broke loose and proceeded to rip out the antenna outlet which was just below it. The top cabinet fell down onto the floor, kept rolling and stopped, amazingly enough, vertically 10 inches from the TV. Spectacular.
Most of the CDs seems to have survived. Most importantly none of the Pearl Jam stuff have suffered. That would have been tragic. The cabinets themselves barely got a scratch but the floor received a bad bruise.
Lacking Furniture
I am sick of having almost no furniture in the living room. We have ordered this and that but it’s not ready yet. It’s being produced in damn Indonesia or somewhere down there. The walls are still bare except for a picture of Pearl Jam in concert. I should probably look for something more to put on the walls tomorrow. We also still need to shop for lamps to the living room and bedroom. As they say Rome wasn’t built in one day. I wish it was.
On the positive side we are almost finished with lifting the floor on the balcony and on Wednesday we got some fine venetian blinds put up out there. They go perfect with the light blue color on the walls.
Right, my neck is killing me and I’m knackered so I’m going to bed.
Redesign #2
Redid a lot of things on the site. Added list of concerts and what have you. Diary also looks nicer now I think. Much more to come. Stay tuned.
It’s tortilla day again today. Tortillas rock. Especially with jalapenos. Got a suggestion for something stronger than that to put in those little bastards then do mail me. Yummy.
Will watch an episode of The Blue Planet later this evening. Amazing pictures. When it comes to documentaries BBC excels.
Pippi Joins the Household
Got a new ferret. Almost entirely black. Has a little white on its face and it’s really vocal. It cries out like a baby if it wants attention. I introduced it to our other almost 1 year old ferret Nanna. They immediately started playing around. There can be trouble with introducing a baby ferret to an adult one but I doubt we’ll have problems. For now they are in separate cages till the little one becomes bigger.
Visited the ear specialist. My hearing problem on the left ear has cured itself. I do however have a problem with my right ear that can’t be fixed though. It doesn’t register some obscure frequency range very well. This might be due to listening to too much loud music for too long. Oh well. Up a notch.
Redesign
Redesigned the front page a bit. Took me forever. CSS can be a bitch sometimes. Also now I’ve only got links to pages that are working. I initially thought I would be quicker to get some basic content in each section but that I didn’t manage due to work on other projects. The sections will be added later when they’re ready.
Site In CVS
The site is now in CVS. Awesome.
The Roskilde Festival this year will feature something like the worst lineup of bands in the history of lineups. 50 more bands to be announced so it can change but I doubt it. Leaves more time for sitting in the sun/rain drinking warm beers. I can’t wait!
It is now getting rather late. I haven’t been able to fall asleep at a decent time these past three days. Monday night I was up till after 3 a.m. I blame Alex whom I got some Apache server advice from today. Or maybe it’s the change in the weather.
Note: Reserve tickets for Star Wars – Episode II.
Layne Staley R.I.P.
Down in a hole. Layne Staley of Alice In Chains has died. Overdosed on heroin apparently as countless talented musicians has before him. During the nineties AiC was one of my favourite bands. Got seriously hooked on “Would?” from their 1992 album Dirt.
Are You Passionate?
Got the new Neil Young album Are You Passionate?. Very good album. In the last few days I have rediscovered my Denon AHD-750 headphones. It’s a whole different experience listening to music through a quality pair of headphones.
A small plane crashed in the tallest building in Milano, Italy. Talk about flashback. What the hell is the world coming to these days?
In other news Marianne finished painting the radiator. Two cans of spray paint had to be used. I bet we lost a few million braincells during the ordeal.
